Laszlo Zsolnai was keynote speaker at the 31st Annual Conference of the International Sustainable Development Research Society in July 8-12, 2025 at the Corvinus University of Budapest. His lecture was about the Planet Positive Economy.

In his lecture Laszlo Zsolnai introduced the concept of Planet Positive Economy and presented two theorems about it. The Impossibility Theorem says that planet positive economy cannot be achieved if economic agents follow materialistic value orientation which prioritize money, possession, sensual pleasure, and status. The Possibility Theorem says that if economic agents follow spiritual value orientation, that is, prioritizing purpose, moderation, ethics, and fraternity, planet positive economy can be achieved. Zsolnai concluded his lecture by suggesting that we should try to develop economic, business and social models that serve the flourishing of life on Earth (including human, non-human and future life).
Gabor Kovacs, Andras Ocsai, and Tamas Veress also presented papers at the conference. Gabor Kovacs’ presentation was about “Sustainability from a Buddhist Perspective”. Andras Ocsai’s presentation was entitled “Ecologically Conscious Production Models” while Tamas Veress was speaking about “Community-based Organizations and Sustainability”.
